Daufuskie Island Foundation

Preserving our Culture.  Protecting our Land.  Securing our Future.

The Daufuskie Island Foundation was founded in July, 2004 to address the unique circumstances that affect the native island Gullah Geechee Community on Daufuskie Island.  The founders are seven native isladers who think it critical to implement initiatives that will raise the consciousness of native islanders who are dispersed throughout the country to focus on those issues negatively impacting thier land and culture.

The Daufuskie Island Foundation provides a highly visible presence for the Gullah Geechee community on Daufuskies Island as well as a condut for networking and the sharing of information.

Current initiatives and programs include Daufuskie Day, Daufuskie Connection Banquet, Land Tax Relief program and  Friends of the Foundation.
